Problem comes from the top executives

Pros

I currently work with the executives and CEO. They are the problem in the company. The company is founded on putting on a facade of care and compassion while the only concern is money. They use "the golden rule" as their mission for appearance sake. The golden rule is applied only if it will generate money (like losing a resident member). Employees don't get the golden rule treatment. They are intimidated and bullied through silent treatments, demotion, "no longer needing a possition", given excessive amount of work impossible to complete so they can have a reason to get rid of them. They do all this with a smile on their faces like real life sociopaths who are so disconnected. Constant turn around of staff. The best way to describe it is the mafia who plans to wack you while you think you're going to a friendly get together.

Cons

The only thing I can sincerely say is good are the benefits.

Dear Anonymous. First and foremost, please accept our sincere apologies for the hard feelings you feel we have created. It is never our intention to do so. As CEO, I, and our whole Leadership team, take full responsibility for our culture which is the most important thing we have. We are very sorry, and regret, that you do not feel we have honoured the Golden Rule. We believe, however, all negative can be turned into positive. It is in this spirit that we will move forward while listening to, and learning from, your words. We truly hope the best for you and a bright future for all. Sincerely, Sam Kolias.

Toxic

Pros

Good co-workers to share your misery

Cons

Boardwalk was once a great company but over the last few years it has become the most toxic environment I have ever work at. It is now a true dictatorship and a place where nepotism is rampant. If you are in the inner circle you are fine but everyone else spends their time walking on eggshells, afraid to say or do anything that would bring attention to themselves or their team. The best way to be sucessful here is to leave your passion and knowledge at the door as it is not needed nor wanted. You quickly understand that yes is the only thing they want to hear from you - your expertise, creativity and inovations are unwelcome. You are treated like a number not a human being anymore and you are expendable despite the smokescreen of catchphases like boardwalk family forever, love always, golden rules etc that they hide behind.

Dear Former Associate, We are very sorry you feel this way. We are always open and available to discuss in person how we can improve our culture as it takes an entire team to accomplish this.

Pros

Benefits are the only thing keeping people here.

Cons

Over the past 3 years this company has changed a lot for the worse. Directors and Area Coordinators are treating Boardwalk as a playground to line their own pockets. Some employees are exempt from working during their shifts, they are basically doing nothing at work because they work after hours for Directors and Area Coordinators as cleaners, landscapers and nannies. Special positions are created just so that Directors’ family members and friends can be hired on. Some of these hires have zero experience but brag to their staff that they are untouchable because of their relations. Human Resources is a joke. They are not here to help employees, but to look for gossip. Area Coordinators often tell employees they are not allowed to contact HR at all. When one employee complained about violence, she was asked how hard she was hit. Does this mean that if she wasn't bleeding, it was ok? They are not following their own policy of zero tolerance of violence in the workplace. Most people just clock in and clock out, doing bare minimum because they lost all respect and motivation.
