Pros

Admittedly, I might be a bit biased, but working at BooksTime has been an incredible experience. Some pros: 1. A chance to make a real impact on the lives of millions of small business owners. By making great bookkeeping affordable for every business, BooksTime helps small businesses survive and thrive. For folks who are passionate about supporting small businesses -- this is the place for you. 2. Huge opportunities for growth and professional development. As the company grows, we've seen a lot of team members grow with it. 3. Practically unlimited flexibility with regard to work hours and location. There are lots of folks who work from home all over the US. 4. Dynamic startup with a culture of constant improvement. BooksTimers embrace change and people in all roles are strongly encouraged (and even expected) to contribute ideas, and these ideas are taken seriously. 5. We work with a diverse range of small businesses and non-profit organizations, so the work stays fresh and interesting. 6. Most of all: a team of really wonderful, friendly, supportive, collaborative, passionate, brilliant, knowledgeable, highly qualified and big-hearted people.

Cons

BooksTime isn't the right fit for everyone. There's constant evolution as the company grows, which requires a lot of comfort with change. Also, given our ambitious goals, there is a cultural value around holding ourselves to the highest standards, which some people may chafe at. Folks who are looking for a place where "good enough" is the standard might find BooksTime stressful. BooksTime (despite having over 60 people) still feels like a startup in many ways, because of the constant effort to improve everything we do. (This is especially true on the marketing/sales side, where the departments are still in their infancy and many processes/templates need to be invented from scratch.) All the new tech tools and processes etc. can throw people off sometimes, and that's understandable.
