      Pros

      I can't decide what's more exciting, the fact that BoomPop is one of the fastest growing startups with a unique solution that solves a tangible problem in the events space (think team offsites, company retreats, etc.) or the fact that the people here are some of the smartest yet most caring people I've ever worked with. It is an absolute joy to go to work with this group every single day, solving problems, building, working towards our mission of bringing people together. The energy is real. I can't say enough positive things about BoomPop. I found my home.

      Cons

      No major cons. There are no politics, toxicity, or gossip. People feel safe to have difficult conversations and express their opinions. And people work really, really hard because everyone cares about growth and success. It's infectious in all the right ways. At the same time, this may not be the place for someone who prioritizes a rigid, 9-5 schedule. While I do believe there is an absolute respect for work-life balance at BoomPop (I rated it as a 5/5 below) people genuinely want to push hard and do great work. Sometimes (most of the time?) this requires less than rigid schedules. I'm more than okay with this way of work. It's why I joined a startup, right?

      Great Company, Poor Engineering Culture

      Fast-paced, mission-driven, and transparent

      Pros

      * The engineering team moves very quickly! We make decisions fast and ship code fast. * We work with cutting-edge technology. * EPD are owners: typically engineers and a designer or PM will work on a large vertical slice of the application and design/build one or many features from start to finish. * The feedback loop is really small: we often get feedback from the other teams at BoomPop for new features within a couple of hours. * The company takes transparency seriously as is clear from the weekly All Hands.

      Cons

      * We are light on automated testing. It's a blindspot that we're working to improve! * We highly value communication and team collaboration, which is awesome, however, some individuals who do their best work in silos interpret this a "cliquish" behavior, or "the old guard." * The Engineering team specifically is lacking representation.
