Pros

Opportunity to work on mobile apps. Some big brands. Most work is little more than brochure ware, which looks pretty in your resume.

Cons

Remember Jr High? Bullied or worse yet a bully yourself. Popular kids in cliques putting down others because they feel empowered when they step on someone else. Super smart kids with the social skills of a rock, placed in uncomfortable situations, doing the work for others. Future dead heads just doing enough to survive. Geeks and Nerds wrapped up in their own little make believe worlds. Cheerleaders screeching the latest fight song all while clueless to the real game being played. Teachers who stopped caring years ago and hang on because they have no other place to go. Meat head Coaches, disguised as something they aren't, drawing meaningless little lines as a poor excuse for real talent. The occasional good teacher, overwhelmed by it all. A cadre of others hired simply because they all went to the same school. The administration so out of touch and more focused on politics, titles, and power. Lastly, the kid that would not really flourish until college. For them, this is just something they must endure, their best days are ahead of them. All this and more is Bottle Rocket.

Pros

Great people who are intelligent and collaborative Really wonderful team relationship Bright and open office with good equipment and technology Flexible schedule that allows for doctor visits/working from home when sick Fun events and speaker engagements

Cons

- Horrible leadership. Some department heads are only interested in the title and pay. There is no desire in to lead and inspire a team. They show up late almost every single day, spend the whole day chatting with friends and occasionally host beyond sub-par department meetings where they yell and curse. It's pathetic and beyond discouraging that this behavior is continually rewarded. Our departments are integral and filled with amazing people but managers seem to want nothing to do with us. - Client is always right, no matter what. Leave all logic, project plans and capacity grids at the door. Account Management RUNS THE SHOW and are allowed to make unrealistic promises to every client. It is non-stop and a complete beat down for anyone who wants to run a successful project. Don't forget that you'll always get thrown under the bus for everything as well so get used to being the scapegoat. - Lack of communication. Decisions regarding your team are made without ever asking for your input or giving you any sort of heads up. It's incredibly hard to maintain a solid workflow, team balance and semblance of sanity when you have no control and the rug is continually pulled out from under you. - Incredibly high volume of client meetings and internal meetings on top of your scrum ceremonies, you will spend a great deal of email catch-up every evening to stay afloat. - No training whatsoever. - 24/7 email expectation. - Some incredibly awful clients. - Inability to take any real vacation, you can never unplug.

Pros

The lure of Unlimited (sorry, "Self Managed") vacation. Maybe the new office space will reinvigorate this tired crew... though highly doubtful.

Cons

Almost 10% laid off on 8/20/14, even after many valuable employees had already resigned with no new hires to fill their critical roles. Rumor has it that Bottle Rocket "blended" revenues from 3 different P&Ls in order to sell the company to WPP/Olgilvy and Mather late last year. Now their flawed sales pipeline can't afford to pay the piper that is WPP. Swapping resources like a "butts in seats" mentality, over what's right for the project, or even their product, AWE. No room for advancement, as those driving this rocket into the earth like looking down at the inferno from their (already bought out) command posts.
