      Toxic- prepare yourself for burnout

      Make your own hours, earn mileage, working independently

      Cons

      Constantly asked to take on more work.. do a great job and you’re rewarded not by more pay, but by a bigger caseload. Upper management doesn’t have a clue what’s going on because they stay in an air conditioned coffee shop and send the lower paid staff into the trenches of filth, abuse and mental illness in the homes we walk into every day. When a patient cancels on you, it’s your fault if it causes you to miss service hours and you’re asked to give more of your time to make up for it, so work-life balance is non existent.

      A place i belong

      Pros

      A very independent and self sufficient job position. I have never felt as appreciated in a position from supervisors as i do working here. If you love working one on one with the public this is a job for you.

      Cons

      You do have to drive a lot and it does increase the deterioration of your vehicle. You do receive mileage and oil change reimbursements. You are also expected to reach a certain service hour amount per week/month.

      Good Starter Job

      Pros

      Good life experience. Forced to learn good time management, but it becomes handy down the road. Good training in EBP's. Learned how to connect with other agencies in the community for the good of the client.

      Cons

      Every single second of your day is time sensitive. You will be written up if you don't receive set amount of billable hours even if your clients cancel. Supervising DCS visitations can make for long days and unsafe at times. Not enough pay for the work and stress at an entry level position.
