Cons

No loyalty or sense of obligation. They lied to me about how busy they were.

Pros

Pay is comparable to other firms. Paid time off is adequate if you're hourly. There are some talented engineers and some hard workers who are capable of amazing things, I enjoyed the people I worked with. Holiday parties and social outings were fun.

Cons

If you give two weeks notice, expect to be asked to leave that day. I have never experienced that kind of reaction in my 17+ years in the industry. Be prepared. Health insurance had gone up in cost and reduced in coverage during my time there. Single individuals w/o children, premiums went up while married couples and families went down. The people who hardly use insurance are paying for those who used it 3x more often and for larger amounts. "Responsible freedom" is a recruiting gimmick. Hourly employees are reprimanded by the same individuals who approved it just weeks earlier. Their YEI (you earned it points) have gone through numerous revisions, all of which have reduced the benefit of working hard and being rewarded for it. The bonuses are never what they promise. Even after one applies the formula to calculate what is essentially profit sharing, the numbers don't work out. Very high turnover rate, much higher than industry standard. Relationship between surveyors and engineers is strained to say the least and causes issues on projects. Bottom line attitude towards billing at the cost of a quality product and client relationships is hurting not only the client relationship but the one between Bowman and it's employees.

Pros

Pay was pretty good when you weren’t afraid that at any moment you would no longer be employed.

Cons

Complete and total mis-management of the Florida program. No SOP because it would change with the wind. The two top managers are more worried about which fun vacation thing they would do next that it had everyone wondering who was actually paying for all of that. Plus they were more into each other then they were into keeping the employees trained and doing things that weren’t down right illegal. FPL needs to do an audit on the books to see exactly what they are paying for. If you are approached to work for this company DO NOT WORK FOR THEM. If you decide to take that risk, get an iron clad contract that is witnessed and signed with a judge present. They will pick you up and move you and then suddenly “lay you off” because they spent too much money on drinks and dinner. They will do their very best to ruin your life. It’s all they are good at.
