Pros

the administrative folks/corporate (outside leadership) are great and try to do the right thing. The technology is interesting, but has a long way to go.

Cons

I’m posting a review so that the next person who is doing their due diligence in assessing a job at BrainScope can make an informed decision and hopefully not make the same mistake that many of the sales members joining the team made. I left a job where I was having great success and making well over 200k a year to pursue what I thought was a startup opportunity that was going to be lucrative, likely to make an average of 200k+, quick growth/ leaderships opportunities, and a sales process of 6 months- a year with endless opportunity for something that was “completely reimbursable.” Joining BrainScope regrettably became my biggest lesson/regret in my career thus far. After your guarantee runs out, anticipate making just your salary- this is very important to factor in when deciding to change your career. What you can expect: travelling constantly and working with endless distributors who are turning over/ just as unable to sell the product. Leadership is always looking for scapegoats and never takes responsibility for their decisions and can’t provide metrics or real measures of proven data to support how goals can be achieved. This is not a secure place to take a job, as the company is bleeding money and once people leave they hire new people and provide higher titles to entice folks to take the role and also promise them unachievable things. The technology is interesting however, the company has a long way to go to get it to be valuable enough for hospitals to bring on. If pursuing an interview with this company, I implore you do your research and consider asking these questions and getting the supporting documentation so that nothing can be sugarcoated/gas lit. Contact a current salesperson who has been with the company longer than 6 months (maybe there are 2 left if they are still there) What is the turnover rate at this company/why is it so high? What’s the actual timeline to close a deal/how many hospitals closing average per rep. Reimbursement- if providers can only bill for something that is close to an hour, how can they bill for this is this product “takes less than 15 minutes” – a reason I joined this company was being that I was told its completely reimbursable- ask questions around it and don’t accept answers that don’t feel right. The ceo and her criminal case at her previous company…. Of course, everyone’s experience is different, but many sales reps feel the same so please do your research and contact those who have done the job- this may be a good fit for you but it wasn’t for me. This company has a toxic culture that starts at the top- the company never has a concrete plan with measurable data- they make decisions based off what they want, vs what’s realistic with the appropriate resources. They change their plans on a quarterly basis and find their new shiny thing that they believe will save the day, then when that fails (due to no plan in place), they blame that shiny thing for all their loss and it all starts again. No place is perfect, especially in medical device, but If I could go back in time, I would never have taken this job.
