Pros

There really no pros for this!!!

Cons

The management is very unprofessional and rude. They definitely do not care about their employees at all. The communication is extremely poor.

Pros

BG enjoys hiring from within, meaning that once you are employed in any role, it is much easier for you to advance.

Cons

Hierarchical setup makes lots of people middle managers so there are fewer people eligible for unionizing (and more people actively against unionizing). Poor pay for roles considering where they are located. Discourages employees from asking for accommodations. Incompetent management is so far removed from participant-facing staff that many ill-informed decisions are made. Very hard to get hired unless you already know someone there who can vouch for you. COLA is tied to yearly performance review, which is often biased against marginalized staff.

Pros

If you actually like social work, making a rough time a little better for people in the shelter is morally rewarding

Cons

They don't protect their employees from violent/perverted residents, but will fire you for protecting yourself. They choose upper management based on who they like & not whose qualified. They don't pay for lunch break but expect you to be a "team-player" & work on your break, or else you get written up for insubordination. They expect the most from the people they pay the least.
