I have been working at Brightside full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Recently I have seen some positive changes taking place. The Senior Management and exec are accessible and listen to what people are saying. The Company encourage people to suggest changes and value employees input. There are development opportunities outside of the Call Centre.

    Cons

IT needs a big focus...however, now there is a new IT Director I think changes will start to take place soon.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to employees. Even making small changes can have a positive impact on the work place.

I worked at Brightside full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

lots of dev big attempt to do agile 6 teams

    Cons

gave up on software dev as legacy system too expensive to maintain and migrated to external system legacy software proved too hard to replace

    Advice to Management

do not take shortcuts as it catches up with you. Continual maintenance and update of the software must be absorbed into every piece of work. Agile is not an excuse for taking shortcuts with refactoring

I have been working at Brightside full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Lots of opportunities for progression, or movement within different departments for hard workers. The environment is fast paced, target driven, strong incentives particularly for sales individuals looking to earn more than a basic call centre salary. Its a fun environment, with a work hard, play hard ethos. The staff are engaging with customers and passionate, resulting in positive customer reviews. Hard working and committed...

      Cons

Pace of change can be challenging at times, but this certainly keeps you on your toes and keeps things interesting.

      Advice to Management

      Invest in good people.

I worked at Brightside full-time for more than a year

      Pros

The 'minions' are really great people, bonding with other staff in the face of adversity. Free parking. You have to pick up so much work that isn't part of your original role that you gain quite an extensive range of experience inadvertently.

      Cons

Constant conflicting information, terrible communication which breeds a culture of uncertainty and demoralisation. Inconsistent rules depending on what makes them the most money or makes them look good on paper so what is gross misconduct for one, is a pat on the back for another. Staff are run ragged and just when you think there might be a glimmer of hope that things will get better, more redundancies are made and you're...

      Advice to Management

Try being human. Try being honest. You have some really good people and you lose them. If you invested more in the good people you have, you wouldn't have this constant vicious cycle of waves of staff leaving, having staffing crisis, demoralisation, having to make cuts, demoralisation, waves of staff leaving etc. And so it will carry on. But you don't care do you? You're getting what you want out of it. You still get...

I have been working at Brightside full-time for less than a year

      Pros

The people are great and the office has a great social and working environment. The management is also very good, and everybody is very approachable regardless of their role. The level of pay is also good for my first job since leaving university, and the employee benefits are very good.

      Cons

So far the role I'm in has been fairly repetitive, and has not been as varied as I was promised when beginning the job- and at times I have found myself to be not motivated. However, the role may well become more varied in the future.

      Advice to Management

Honour the promises that you make to your employees.
