Bullying management, awful place to work

Pros

The office based staff are fantastic and often overlooked.

Cons

Where do I start with the cons? Put simply if you work here you will become run down, stressed and a shell of your former self. The management have zero concern for your well being to the point of harassment. I can honestly say it was one of the most awful working experiences of my life. If you do look to work here consider this review. Along side that look at the others that also highlight the bully boy tactics of 90% of the senior management within this woeful company.

At Bristan Group, we are totally committed to our people and their engagement. In fact, “Creating a Great Place to Work” is one of the foundations of our business strategy. We are disappointed to hear working with us didn’t live up to our promise or your expectations. Pros

Some great people who have been there a long time who are propping the company up and trying so hard to make it all work. Pay is ok and hybrid working offers some respite from the chaos.

Cons

Current Executive Leadership Team (since 2022) is dysfunctional and creates a toxic environment that is slowly stifling the whole company. Without a clearly defined long-term strategy for the business they seem willing to remove all the talent and the people who have loved it for so many years just to make short-term savings in favour of creating a clique of unskilled sycophants all to ensure they get their exec bonuses, while the company goes backwards.

Pros

Training, development, office support / customer services.

Cons

I worked here for about 5 years and initially the culture was great, had that family feel to it, but this was due to a great CEO. Unfortunately he was replaced by a poor CEO who was out to prove himself by artificially making the business look in growth, by cutting costs. You would think you would have some job security working for a large company, but they frequently make "restructuring" decisions which coincidentally coincided with the appointment of some new senior manager looking to shake things up and subsequently mass redundancies (regardless of performance) they do regular appraisals and I was always on the outstanding bracket, but yet still made redundant? Its also a bit of a boys club, if you can stay out drinking and socialising until the early hours of the morning then your in the running for career progression. They also now have trackers on the cars, so that should give you an indication of how much they trust that you are doing your job. But keep in mind that they now have a new CEO who by all accounts is excellent.

Thank you so much for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that your experience with Bristan was not as positive as we would have hoped. Unfortunately, to ensure we continue to provide the level of service our customers require and maintain our industry leading position, decisions regarding the deployment of our teams will occasionally need to be made. Unfortunately, as with all organisations, this will occasionally result in redundancy. We can assure you that these decisions are considered extremely carefully, and fair and proper processes are in place to support any member of our team that may be affected. We are sorry that this process affected you. Throughout any redundancy process decisions to select will be based on a viable business reason and will not be reflective of personal performance. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further at a time and location to suit you so we can ensure your concerns are addressed. Should you wish to discuss this further with us, please do contact HR@Bristan.com.
