Short staff, safety risks for the residents. A resident went missing-had walked home some time in the beginning of the shift, but instead of calling a code brown (missing resident) so all other staff could stop what they were doing and look everywhere they told me to just keep doing my job and take care of the rest of my residents. No other employees were informed of the situation on the other assignment or floors. It wasn’t till the end of my shift did we find out the resident was safe and that he’d taken himself home. Found out later as well that state was in the building for a different complaint. I don’t think they wanted to inform state they had a missing resident, since they were able to convince him to come back it was written off as a LOA as if he’d had permission prior to his disappearance. I left after this incident.
