Pros
It was fun to interact with the public regarding photography, which applied to beginners, advanced and professional photographers. The camera corporations would give incentive discounts to staff employees also. After 6 months, you can receive benefits including prescription and some dental.
Cons
Management is atrocious. Store managers have no training. There is no HR department. The manager of the Vancouver store has great difficulty with interpersonal relations and is not professional at all when dealing with any issues. Pay structure is very frustrating. Almost minimum wage and no raise after 2 years and promotion to supervisor. When I was promoted to a new store location, I was not compensated at all for my loss of commission by leaving my previous store where I had a base foundation of customers. I lost thousands of dollars of commission sales in 3 months time. Also, I was harassed by the manager regarding procedures (bag check / time check) that were not applied to any other employee. Favouritism is unprofessional and wrong. After I tried twice to resolve the obvious personal issue that was happening with the manager, I was let go 2 weeks before Christmas with no warning, no reason and no compensation for the boxing day sales commission (which is 1 month's worth of pay). I had to go to the government to receive the proper treatment, and the government deemed I was treated wrong, and that I should not have been dismissed from the company based on their false accusations.
