Pros

Terrific company for long term career or for a year or two while you get your own career in music, art, writing to the point it will sustain you. The pay is good and the working environment is very supportive. From the CEO down, everyone is passionate about their job. It's hard not to be when you are working with pups and kitties all day. Management is very aware that many employees are working also in the arts and will do anything possible to accommodate..... as long as pet care is not compromised. Excellent pet care. Excellent customer service. Excellent employee care.

Cons

The company operates in North Brooklyn only.

Poorly-run, Demanding and Relentless job

Pros

Being around dogs and cats all day is just about the best job you can imagine. Honestly they are why people stay at this company for as long as they do, which isn't very long in most cases.

Cons

Too many to list. So many people leaving that the ones left have to pull all the weight, working long hours and basically on call nights, weekends. The pay here is less than other companies, for a lot more running around different neighborhoods, dead time between jobs that isn't paid, scheduling mistakes left and right! Its just too much.!

Brooklyn Bark Response

It is unfortunate you feel that we were not listening. We certainly try. As you know, we experienced a very difficult winter with weather that made providing our service problematic. A lot of last minute flu callouts increased our challenge. We had to all pull together and, fortunately for the clients and our company, most of our staff hung in there. This position was obviously not a good fit for you. We wish you luck in whatever new career you choose.

Pros

Working outdoors, Great exercise, Becoming part of a pet's family, Very responsive management, Light/Heavy schedule (Your choice!), Great pay increases, Only required to work one weekend a month. Overall, my time at Brooklyn Bark was enjoyable! The CEO of the company (Rachel) is quite possibly one of the most hands-on CEOs I've ever had the pleasure of working for/with! The admin is pretty hands on in your day to day appointments and are easily contacted for any and all issues that may come up. All of the staff genuinely care for each and every dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pigs, etc...!

Cons

Working in all types of weather (management does monitor the weather and recommends precautions in extreme weather events i.e. cold, heat, rain), Appointment load can be heavy at times (management/admin can help reduce the amount of appointments and can be reached at any time to help), You walk a lot! (Can be good and bad, take care of your feet, make sure you hydrate and eat during the day), Gaps in your schedule (it happens from time to time and mostly on weekends/holidays, it takes some flexibility but management will work with you to adjust appointments if possible)
