Very political, good old boy system, the officers are just whoever has been around the longest or is liked most , not most qualified

Toxic work environment. The big Chief is never around or seen. The two other chiefs don’t care about the personnel at all. They make decisions, it seems, to keep people miserable. Short staffed so lots of mandatory holds. Some really crappy stations on the north end of the county. When everyone is on mandatory holds due to something like a hurricane, the admin staff will buy steaks for themselves and other county admin people, expect the employees to cook for them, clean up behind them like servants.
