Pros

-clean -friendly peers -easy tasks

Cons

- Bad employee relations - If employees give their 2-week notice the owners fire them on the spot - If any complaint is made, instead of trying to remedy the situation they dismissively reply with something along the lines of, "Well if you're not happy here, leave. We don't want people working for us who aren't happy to be here." - Turnover is terrible - warehouse employees often quit and the owners terminate employees even though they are understaffed and management is overworked and stressed. In the last few months at least 4 warehouse employees have quit. - Nepotism - Multiple office employees are blood relatives to owner. HR has an inherent conflict of interest. - Owners do not know how to efficiently run a warehouse and do not always listen to the advice of the new manager who has worked in a warehouse for over 20 years. The manager has abundant ideas on how to improve the warehouse in order to improve efficiency and retain employees but the owners stubbornly ignore their advice. - Expensive health care plan, considering the wage. - Some ladders/equipment are wobbly, beaten up and unsafe yet they remain in use. - Inconsistent standards and rules due to varying opinions from the multiple owners and new management. - Heat waves in the warehouse are unbearable. The owners' lavish lifestyle demonstrates that they are more than capable of providing a safe working environment in the warehouse yet they refuse to do so. When the warehouse was built, they "ran out of money" for AC so they installed small ceiling fans that do nothing for air flow since they are 50 feet up. They claim that it would be "too expensive" to air condition the warehouse yet the offices are always brisk, the owners have multiple luxury cars, at least one vacation home (on the Cape) and are always clothed in expensive clothing. During one of the heat waves this summer one of the owners took a two week vacation while the warehouse suffered. During the multiple heat waves a warehouse employee was hospitalized due to heat-related illnesses and multiple employees had to call out over the heat. Even with large fans, everyone is sweating bullets anyway because they only offer a small amount of relief if you're standing right in front of them and the product aisles have no air flow. The owners repeatedly turned off the AC and/or closed the door to the leather-cutting area above the warehouse, thwarting any attempt to cool it down. The office was always brisk so returning to the warehouse after a bathroom break or lunch was always disheartening. Warehouse employees started to complain so instead of apologizing they restated that it's too expensive to run AC and bought a few gallons of ice cream as a "thank you." Additionally, the heater in the warehouse is supposedly broken and in all likelihood they won't fix it before it gets cold so winters will probably be just as unbearable. They choose saving a buck over the safety and well-being of their employees.
