As a former employee, my experience at Bud Clary was extremely disappointing. I felt that I was repeatedly misled regarding expectations, support, and the level of authority managers would actually have. While leadership often presented themselves as being supportive and invested in employee success, my experience was that decisions were heavily controlled by upper management, leaving managers with very little ability to make meaningful decisions for their own departments. The organization appeared to have a growing number of directors and executives making decisions that were disconnected from day-to-day operations. This created frustration, confusion, and inefficiencies throughout the dealership. Rather than empowering managers to lead, it often felt like every decision required approval from multiple layers of leadership. I also felt that concerns raised by employees were frequently dismissed or redirected rather than genuinely addressed. In my case, I was left feeling unsupported and eventually pressured into leaving the company. Unfortunately, based on conversations with others, my experience did not seem unique. From my perspective, the culture has deteriorated significantly, morale is low, and turnover continues to be a problem. There appears to be a disconnect between what leadership says and what employees actually experience. Until the company starts trusting its managers, listening to employees, and making decisions that support the people doing the work, I believe the challenges will continue. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I think prospective employees should understand what they may be walking into before accepting a position here.
