Pros

Going home after working 23 hrs then driving home 3. Happens a lot.

Cons

I had a medical emergency ended up having 3 stents put in my heart. They come up w a BS reason to fire me well before my leave was up essentially ending my short disability. I am seeking legal representation for this and the many things that are illegal this company does. They are absolute scum. Im not the only one these things have happened to. Do yourself a favor and swipe left if job hunting.

Pros

Preface this to say that the Burroughs of today (2016) is NOT the same Burroughs your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents fondly remember that was founded in 1886 as the American Arithmometer Company and named Burroughs Corp. in 1904. That Burroughs became Unisys in 1986, and Unisys continues to lead the Burroughs's legacy of grand technology today. In 2010 Unisys wisely cut off the tumor which was it's dated payment systems division (checks, cash) - this was unwisely picked up by Marlin Equity Partners (founded only 5yrs prior in 2005) and the name Burroughs was brought back. The Burroughs of today however drags the proud name and legacy to pride themselves and garner customer and media attention under the equity company's control. Burroughs now lives precariously through it's various acquisitions, whilst having no vision nor learning to manage it's own existence first. PROS: Great people! From the technicians to the operational groups; many fantastic and brilliant people. Unfortunately, the praise stops at management. Granted, there are/were a few good managers, but the best and brightest are ignored, leaving or being forced out.

Cons

Top-heavy, ever-changing management structure built on nepotism, greed and hubris. An overly obese middle-management tier built through said nepotism with minimal interpersonal management skills nor training. The best talent are under-trained, underpaid and critically overworked.

Poor work environment & extreme work load

Pros

Ability to work remotely with an older employee base that does have an excellent work ethic.

Cons

Extreme work loads do to lay-offs. Most employees work 12 hour plus days. Low pay and dirty work environment. I worked on every vacation and PTO day, including when I was out on bereavement leave. After hour meeting every week and a “no overtime policy” At one time I was an employee who loved my job. That changed when they laid off 75% of the company. Not enough employees left for the company to function properly. Remaining employees are stressed, angry and doing multiple jobs of former employees. At one time Burroughs was a great company and a pillar of the Plymouth community. Soon they won’t even occupy the building that proudly bares their name. Burroughs fall from grace is tragic and sad. I would not recommend working at Burroughs.

Burroughs Response

Burroughs has executed a number of strategic changes, including the discontinuance of legacy business lines and product manufacturing, in favor of driving our strategic focus on support and maintenance of current and next-generation hardware as well as technical and managed service solutions. We appreciate the hard work, dedication and adaptability of our employees as we continue to transform our services and solutions. Thank you for your review and feedback.
