Pros

Being part of the entertainment side of the park can be fun on good days. Some coworkers are supportive and make the environment more bearable and I’ve met amazing people along the way.

Cons

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has some of the worst working conditions I have ever experienced, especially within entertainment management. The pay is extremely low for the physical, emotional, and time demands placed on employees. We were constantly understaffed, overworked, pressured to perform at unrealistic levels, and made to feel replaceable at all times. As a female employee, I personally experienced inappropriate behavior, grooming, and harassment from a direct manager. I was not the only one — multiple female coworkers experienced similar treatment. There was a clear abuse of power, and boundaries were consistently crossed by management. There was also a culture where managers and higher-ups openly pursued or engaged in relationships with subordinates, creating an unsafe and unprofessional environment. HR was made aware of multiple issues and did nothing meaningful to protect employees. Reports were minimized, ignored, or buried. Retaliation was always a fear, and many employees stayed silent because they needed the job or felt nothing would change. The emotional toll of working here was immense. The constant pressure, lack of support, poor pay, favoritism, and unsafe culture made this an extremely damaging workplace, especially for young women.

Pros

I like what I do It's easy to learn A pretty environment to work in

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism. You hardly ever receive recognition. No matter how hard you work. Supervisors are promoted even though they've only been there for a month versus employees who have been there for years and are overlooked. Management doesn't care about you. The supervisors give certain employees team member authority over other team members even though we are on the same level. Supervisors gossip with team members about other team members. Even though I was completely mistreated at my place of work by other team members and supervisors, my manager still wouldn't let me transfer to another area. If you are not scheduled to close and already have prior obligations, they will try to ask you ten minutes before you shift ends to stay for another five or six hours. When you say you cannot, they get upset and refer to you as "unreliable." Managers always angry/irritated. Some can't talk to employees with due respect.

Pros

- The work is fun (for the first 2 hours at least) - Free admission to seaworld parks and Universal is nice

Cons

Where do I begin... - You're thrown in with little instruction or training - Park is severely understaffed and clearly losing money - Stage management is incompetent and complacent to inappropriate guest behavior, which ranges from teenaged stupidity to borderline dangerous - The employee cafeteria is a joke. Closes early, doesn't have any options, especially for vegetarians - Upper management makes big changes like cutting all employee hours without much prior notice - The shift rotations are brutal. 2 one-hour blocks of constant performing with 20 minutes rest inbetween is grueling. - Safety is not priority. Security officers don't take threats seriously and WILL tell you to confront guests yourself - You can't get a hold of anyone. The person they tell you to email to request days off doesn't respond. Upper management brushes you off when you ask about other career opportunities. It's clear departments don't communicate with eachother
