Most Miserable Experience Ever

Pros

There are absolutely no benefits to working here. I'm looking forward to leaving.

Cons

CEO is abusive and does not care about employees. He will also do questionable and unethical things with regards to marketing and services to customers. You're held to unrealistic standards. No belief in work/life balance or value for employees.

Pros

I've worked at Business-Software.com for about two years. Being a part of a smaller team has its pros and cons, but overall, you get what you put into the experience. If you show up, work hard to try and move the company forward and share candid feedback, you'll be rewarded. Not having much software experience, I've been able to learn a lot since joining the team. I've also been able to work on improving my skillset and have had the flexibility to explore tools and methods that I'm interested in, in order to help me in my role. Since starting, the environment has become more accepting of a different perspective and is making positive strides. The CEO is open to new ideas and pushes the team to think outside the box when developing strategy.

Cons

Because the team is on the smaller side, you have to get used to wearing multiple hats, interchanging them multiple times a day and being not only able to, but comfortable in shifting task focus and priority on a dime. Job outlook is good, so long as you're putting in the effort, though career development isn't exponential.

Pros

Great coworkers and fun outings, plus free lunches. The company is small, so you really get to take charge of projects and be fully involved in activities. This isn't an environment where you're stuck fetching people coffee or performing other menial tasks; all employees get to perform worthwhile tasks and have an impact on the company brand. You can also make a lot of valuable connections within the software/technology space.

Cons

Teams are managed unequally, and members within different teams are held to different standards. The CEO has interesting ideas, but has difficulty seeing projects through or establishing a common structure for team initiatives. He doesn't care about investing in competent individuals to oversee teams, which causes widespread issues around productivity, performance, and transparency. There's also a problem of complacency throughout the company; many employees are content doing the bare minimum to keep the business afloat, while a minority of employees actually care about moving forward and growing.
