This place is quickly spiraling downwards. Staff is generally unhappy. The organization has recently seen high turnover, with several tenured employees abruptly leaving. In addition to the common non profit struggles of low pay and being severely understaffed, there is a rampant organizational culture of toxicity and chaos. There is a general lack or delay of communication from leadership to staff. There is hardly any visibility into key decisions made that directly impact staff. Leadership claims an open door policy, but they do not respond or acknowledge concerns with respect in a timely manner. Discourse about values seems performative and affects trust when they are not modeled by leadership. There is a lot of mental and emotional gymnastics involved to work here. Hard to have peace of mind. And if you're stressed, there isn't a strong support team to lean on. Leadership team appears disconnected and exhausted, they do not inspire. In my opinion, most of the organizational issues stem from the CEO who has had several people leave abruptly under her leadership. I'd also say the organization's success hinges on the talent and heart of the employees, rather than her leadership of them. With the current CEO there is a general lack of leadership, accountability, humility, acknowledgement and empathy. She doesn't take complete responsibility for a series of poor decisions in retrospect leading to staff unhappiness. She doesn't offer reasons for why decisions are being made and the thought process behind them. Oftentimes these decisions seem unreasonable. She doesn't recognize the impact decisions and situations will have on all staff. Oftentimes it seems like favoritism is being played. There is misleading and inconsistent behavior along with the charm. I would not recommend this place to a friend.
