Started with a really great director of IT, after he left, replacement who moved up from infrastructure was awful. He treated employees without regard and mistreated employees and would scream them out and send emails that were just as bad as hearing him scream at employees. I would also say IT became more and more clicky, and made myself feel uncomfortable, and my own manager, who said to me I could say anything, actually used my own statements that I said in confidence to him, and used it against me in a write up. I would absolutely say, do not say anything that can be used against you. That manager will use anything he can against you if he doesn’t like you. The first time I met him, I felt he was looking at me to size me up and felt like he was judging me by the get go, and he was going find a way to find leverage on me to get me terminated.
Within 2 months of me starting, 5 employees either left or were terminated. By 6 months, it was over 12, and by the time I was terminated, I was the 15th who left or was terminated. 15 employees of a 45 person department had either left or terminated, in under 8 months, 1/3 of all IT employees in 8 months of my start date, including myself. By the time I was terminated, I felt like it would be merciful to be fired. I was actually getting sick pretty much every day before I would even start getting ready for work, and made me feel sick on a regular basis, because I nerves were shot, and it was making me throw up in the mornings because the first time in my career that I actually didn’t want to go to work.
