Promotion of bad managers

Pros

- Flexible working - Data team are very experienced

Cons

- Very bad middle management (most but not all) - Managers focus on perception of CEO (As this drives promotion), and optimise this at the cost of a terrible experience for junior employees. This is why the churn at junior levels is so high, but manager above churn is low

Company seemed confused about itself at best

Pros

- Junior employees are in general friendly and quite supportive of each other - Certain middle management genuinely care (although some have already left the company) - Good data team (although many members have already left too) - The CEO does take the time to send birthday and christmas cards/gifts (but might not acknowledge your presence while in the same elevator)

Cons

- High stress; Projects being under-resourced might mean that your manager is stretched across a multitude of responsibilities and cannot afford to provide the guidance you need and are supposed to be getting - There is a bizzare culture around caring a lot about how your powerpoint slides are formatted instead of crafting the content - The lack of proper quality control due to a compound of different reasons means that you might find that if you, a grad employee, does not spot a mistake (that isn't slide formatting), no one will. This leads to pressure. And you see other employees making mistakes that are not spotted. - The CEO and Partner team have failed to convince me that they have an actual grasp of what the Data Innovation team does and is capable of doing, why their skills are valuable, and how they might be best utilised. Some of the data team are gaslit into (perhaps reluctant) acceptance of this. - Senior leadership seemed confused about how they want the company structure to look like and what work the company expects to do, leading to confusing and contradicting policies (especially HR-related ones) - For some reason, opts for last minute communication about things that affect an employee's employment status. This led to my distrust of the senior leadership. When I left, I did not feel like my job would have been safe even if I had stayed. - A manager can tell you to do something that is against the company's recommendations if it might make themself appear more capable to the senior leadership, and there is nothing in place to curb this behaviour - Training and development is not very structured. These are sometimes delivered by knowledgable junior employees who pass on what they've learnt from experience, rather than being comprehensive training - Although I personally was lucky to avoid developing poor mental health during my time at the company, I am not at all surprised by the recent reviews on here. I do not regret leaving.

Pros

I only there were some

Cons

Not easy to write, but I feel a responsibility to be honest for the sake of others considering a role here. The company talks a lot about being values driven, people first, and purpose led. On paper, it looked like a place where I could grow and make a real impact. What I walked into was the complete opposite. The culture is toxic and emotionally draining. Management uses pressure, fear, and intimidation as tools of control. I saw things I found deeply unsettling. People crying in the office (myself included), being signed off with stress, and completely burning out from impossible workloads. And instead of addressing any of it, leadership turned a blind eye. Or worse, enabled it. It’s hard to explain just how performative everything is. The senior leadership team says the right things in public, about wellbeing, inclusion, development, but behind closed doors, it's all talk. People are treated like numbers. There's no psychological safety, no support, and certainly no respect for boundaries. Overworking is expected, not appreciated. It wears you down slowly. You start questioning yourself, blaming yourself, wondering if you're not strong enough. But it’s not you. It’s the environment. The dysfunction here runs deep, and it affects everyone. There are some brilliant, kind people here, but they deserve better too. If you're thinking of joining, please be careful.

Pros

Used to be full of great people but most have now left If you can handle working here, you can handle working anywhere

Cons

- Lots of people in senior roles are unprofessional, rude, and have unrealistic demands - No HR - Scary variation in management style - your development really hinges on being lucky and getting one of the very few good managers -There is very clear favouritism with a few select staff, blind eye turned to bad behaviour - Good work is not appreciated because of unrealistic expectations due to the company’s current financial position being quite bad. - Tensions are always high and this negative mindset is taken out on junior staff - Too many good employees have left in a short space of time - Not many perks as you’d expect of a management consultancy - No bonus year after year - This is being run as a lifestyle company to fund the owners only. Not enough investment to support company growth or fair compensation for employees
