Pros

I was able to negotiate my salary based on my degree (PhD) and previous experiences but the initial offer was really not aligned with the role. My team is nice and my boss very flexible and comprehensive.

Cons

The Azrieli research center syndicate does not offer as many benefits as CHUSJ's or UdeM's employees. Long probation period (9 months for N3 level), no competitive salaries, no Fridays off during summertime, very few opportunities for promotion, contract is set as permanent but "temporary" since it depends on research funds. If you're planning to get a mortgage, it will be a roadblock.

Comfortable job

Pros

Comfortable perks and benefits, great team depending on the department

Cons

As you might expect from working for a governmental institution, there are a lot of procedure that should be updated. It is very hard to get promoted internally, as they still use paper forms and HR is probably really understaffed. Also, since it's a big company the hard work that you'll do will probably go unnoticed as the health care system in Québec always expects its workers to give their entire lives to their jobs.
