Great place to learn

Pros

CP is a very unique and wide spectrum of specialty company, providing a multitude of services, primarily to broadcast television clients. At CP, you’ll have an outstanding potential to learn and experience a large variety of wireless audio, wireless video, fiber optics, wired and wireless intercom, networking and two-way radio equipment, and be able to learn new things every day. The entire engineering staff is incredibly knowledgeable and are exceptional leaders within the company. They are always willing to help anyone with any questions or problems they may experience and very good at teaching anything you’d want to know. Often, they’ll include technicians in the shop with products in development, which greatly increases their knowledge of how things work even more. The ability to travel and be the on-site Technician, for even the smallest of client events, allows the tech learn even more of the systems they build and test on a bench in a controlled environment, and see how they’re actually implemented in the field. The leaders of the company (some) are very genuine and often time work along side even the lowest of worker. This helps moral and shows that they actually care. Working at CP gives everyone amazing exposure to numerous technical focuses, most would never get to experience. Opportunity to work overtime is almost always available and they offer a mediocre health benefits plan. If an employee takes the initiative to learn more, the amount of work becomes limitless.

Cons

Some people in key leadership roles are not leaders, but bosses. Everyone is more successful when a solid team is together, management included. Oftentimes, a “my way or the highway” mentality is carried by some leadership and important opinions from workers are quickly disregarded. Due to an extremely understaffed shop, the workload put on the crew can be very overwhelming. Things get overlooked and extra hours need to be spent fixing problems that management usually creates. Plans are often discussed and put in place but never are reenforced so they are for moot. A lack of specific job duties for every position creates confusion and too many times, everyone is expected the be able to to everything. This is just not feesable and only obtainable over years.

Pros

CP is an extremely specialized broadcast solutions company with high profile clients in the sports and entertainment industry. They own an enormous amount of broadcast gear that is always being reconfigured for new deployments and if you have any geek in you at all, this is the right place - from a technology perspective. Good exposure to a heavy blend of operations and engineering. If you are willing to put the work in, you will get to play with everything. Potential for travel opportunities on high profile remote events as well. Lots of great people working at this company, from shop workers to show techs to engineering, operations and management. Your skill set will grow by working at/for CP Communications.

Cons

-Information is not communicated effectively from top down -Due to the 24/7 nature of the broadcast industry, some hourly employees are basically expected to be on call 24/7/365 (even outside of the regular on call rotation) -Messes are dumped on some of the stronger employees without any accountability for those who contrive the mess (both in shop and field) -Limited growth within the company -Lack of transparency from management (company goals and finances)

Pros

A fun group of people to work with in an environment where you can learn if you put the work in.

Cons

It's a high pressure job at times, which can lead to stressful interactions with too many chiefs.
