It's a little suspicious that there is a sudden blitz of positive reviews only after the rating hit a 2.0. In addition, all these reviews say the same thing and are written in the same style. It's questionable. Keep in mind that reviews for CSA appeared a couple of times a month at most, but now there are apparently lots of super duper happy employees who just suddenly felt the need to post their thoughts. This is a sign of a toxic workplace that operates on lies and deception. To the individual who accused negative reviewers of being the "old guard" with no specific evidence to back up their claims, here is some evidence for you:
- Many dissatisfied current and former employees have/had been with the company for a few years or less (myself included)...so this "old guard" nonsense and stereotyping of older, tenured employees is actually ageism on your part.
- Focus groups were held across the company in 2019 for employee engagement and the feedback was consistent...employees did not feel respected by leadership and they said that discrimination was a problem. There were complaints about senior leaders appointing their friends into management positions instead of promoting from within or at least posting the jobs so that internal candidates could apply. These supposed opportunities for advancement are non-existent and there is no fair hiring process in place. As a non-management employee, I had to verify all my academic credentials, provide at least 3 professional references and I had to go through a criminal background check. However, there were people above my pay grade who were appointed to their roles because of their personal connection with senior leaders. In some cases they didn't have post-secondary education (even though most CSA posted jobs list a university education as a requirement) and no background check was performed. Is it fair for these people to be paid more with fewer credentials and not go through as rigorous a process?
- Systems that were not implemented properly have cost the organization significantly, with layoffs happening regularly to offset those costs. There seemed to be no end to this pattern while I was there, and to ensure leadership could continue operating the way they did without consequence, they essentially took control away from, and pushed out the internal audit team to then place the existing Chief Financial Officer in charge of that function when costs were being investigated. What does that tell you?
- CSA has standards for mental health, but employees whose mental health deteriorated due to the toxic work environment were not able to receive support or get approval to take leave. People who did end up taking leave only came back to be terminated soon after. CSA is not willing to practice what they preach.
- It's also hilarious that recent reviewers raved about flexibility and work from home, but while I was there, senior leaders were seriously considering taking that away.
