Pros

I have had the pleasure of working with some very intelligent and talented people from whom I have learned much. The company has many products that have a lot of potential.

Cons

Annual reviews and open, honest feedback between members in general are a major problem with this company. Managers for the most part don't bother interacting with the teams they manage other than occasionally pass on corporate news. Due to the lack of interaction they are almost entirely reliant on the use of anonymous peer feedback forms to gather information for the purpose of annual evaluations. This, in conjunction with a stacked ranking system has bred a culture of mistrust and a lack of communication and constructive feedback between team members due to the knowledge that information shared could be used against an individual during peer reviews. It has also bred a culture that encourages cliques and politiking with managers. This is not likely to change anytime soon as I have personally spoken to managers regarding having a more open and accountable feedback process led by management and the response I received was words to the effect of: a) they wanted to continue to use peer feedback (rather than getting out on the floor and acutally manage). b) they felt if feedback wasn't completely anonymous then people would not provide the feedback for reviews (and thus support their lack of management) since they could then be held accountable for their reviews. The division of the company that I worked for has a long history of buyouts and redundancies, the second of which has not changed since being acquired by CSG International. It appears that CSG International is also willing to shed staff on any hiccups to the balance sheet.

Pros

* Smart and passionate people * Descent renumeration * Work from home

Cons

* Lack of SME knowledge in Senior Management - A tech company should be lead by people who understand technology whereas the current leadership is all about financials - how to make the quarterly and yearly results look good. * Leadership lacks global exposure - Most of the leadership hasnt worked or lived outside USA and doesnt understand the cultural or business nuances of the rest of the world. Imagine how the leaders manage the global workforce. Though good that the company gets most of the revenue from USA but very hard to get any business for the company outside US * Nepotism and pockets of political affiliations - Very difficult or impossible to make any change in the company given these political groups can be very powerful * Legacy technology - despite being a technology company, the adoption of latest trends is always minimal and delayed. * Tremendous financial pressures - given the leadership is judged by the financial results massive layoffs were undertaken. People have been let go despite there skills and what they have done for company * HR is non-existent
