Feeling like Dorothy in Oz

Pros

When the office moved from LIC to NYC, a lot of our free food privileges were taken away. Now its just Wednesday catered lunch which is still semi-pleasant. Yearly raises are also an occurrence here.

Cons

CaaStle feels like a modern day cult. They continuously hire the same type of people (think gender, race, and body type) who enjoy complaining about food that they aren't able to eat all of (like an entire bagel..really?!). The office is full of micro-managers who love to steal the spotlight from you. Calendars are jammed with meetings that could have been solved with an email. You will never move up in your position and rarely will get anything new to do. Monotony is your best friend here at CaaStle. Even the CEO seems tired of the people she hired/her company. Rarely says hello in the hall or in the elevator. Same thing with the people-can never hold a door open for you or smile at you in passing. Don't know if its just me but I feel like Dorothy in Oz.

So Much Potential

Pros

Great service and growing a lot. Casual work environment. 9:30 to 5:30 office. Great benefits (healthcare, unlimited vacation, free Wednesday lunch, laptop, standing desk, discount for the service, stock options). People are smart and nice.

Cons

The culture is non-existent and nobody talks to each other. The company is majority women but there are men who act inappropriately and HR is aware but has done nothing. There are also managers who abuse their employees and again HR has kept them employed. The CEO doesn’t interact with anyone except the management team and there is a disconnect between the levels. What management thinks employees want, is not reality. There is also a lot of red tape to get anything done but everything is an emergency. Actions either need too much thoughtfulness or is fully reactionary. The 401K is a joke, compensation is mediocre and there are no bonuses.
