I have been working at Cactus Club Cafe part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, consistently busy, opportunity to make a lot of $$$, flexible hours (or not) depending on staffing Overall a good place to work while you're in school or even full-time as a young person. Unless being in the restaurant industry is your dream career, then not really a long-term job. Every workplace has its' pros and cons, and compared to other similar establishments I'd say Cactus is one of the better...

    Cons

Due to the nature of the restaurant industry, new staff are hired while others leave quite frequently. At times of being understaffed, you might work "split" shifts daily, which often turn into very long (10-12hr) shifts if it's too busy to take a "break". You also might be scheduled to "clopen", working as late as 3 or 4am and opening as early as 8am if you shiftlead or bartend - however, this doesn't happen often. ...

    Advice to Management

Pay your servers for the hours they are putting in. Make your staff feel valued (not just by choosing a "peak performer" every so often) - listen to what your employees are telling/asking you and at least attempt to respond. Also, stay professional. If you are high up in the company, people are watching you. What you post to social media / how you portray yourself on your days off at social outings plays a large part...

I worked at Cactus Club Cafe full-time for more than a year

    Pros

great employee discount, uniform given, good starting pay, learn a lot about the restaurant industry, excellent training, opportunity to move up.

    Cons

sometimes breaks aren't given due to how busy it gets, usually always understaffed, dependent on location but often times managers book too many reservations and don't leave enough restaurant seating for walk ins. If customers refuse to autograt managers typically allow it. We are told to give 2 hour out times to customers before seating them, even though customers typically sit longer and it lengthens wait times for...

    Advice to Management

managers need to work more closely with front desk. limit reservations to 30% of the restaurant a day, discuss any upcoming reservations with front desk leaders, preassign all large parties, radios for ALL hosts would be ideal.

I have been working at Cactus Club Cafe full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great management and people for the most part. 50% off food during shifts and a good amount of breaks if you want them.

    Cons

Not enough hours for full time and barely any tips to hostesses who are starting out. Also many older employees are frustrated with not being promoted to server long after they were promised to be.
