Pros

Still have the opportunity to telework as of July 2025. Ability to have a life outside of work and a pension is hard to beat, even with the cons considered.

Cons

Kind of a interesting transition if you're coming from the private sector to the state. No bonuses and the union negotiates the raises and other workplace issues for you. These are the trade-offs for having a pension, actual work-life balance and job security.

Pros

It's apparently the unit within the State of CA that resembles private industry.

Cons

Despite resembling the private sector, it's filled with workers who are lifelong state workers, with very little outside experience in anything. Outside of a few individuals, I found that most of the people were extremely short sighted.
