Pros

Work from home or the office as desired Relatively rapid advancement Good work/life balance Great co-workers Low-stress way to start your career If you want to switch to a different role and can make a good argument as to why you should be in that role, chances are you'll get it.

Cons

Salaries are well below average Not a lot of industry standards are followed. (no unit testing, poor documentation, lax coding standards) Basic projects usually boil down to CRUD operations. Problems being solved are often not challenging or interesting. Lots of siloed knowledge

Pros

- Remote opportunities for tenured engineers (in CB time this is about 1 YOE, red flag btw) - Generally the problems you’re solving on a day-to-day are simple - The development team (or what’s left of them) are great people

Cons

- Systemic issues due to high tech debt mean anything you build will probably perform embarrassingly poorly - You will not be proud of the products you work on - Technical management is toxic - The pay is really bad even by Dallas standards

Pros

If you know how to get things done, you will thrive.

Cons

At the end of the day, results are what matter. This can be a tough reality when working somewhere that requires you to be mostly self-sufficient when solving problems.
