Pros

sounds interesting. you get people interested in hearing about you.

Cons

It is a big scam. Do not leave a good job to move here. If you think you will really have an impact in this place. Think again. NO. very bureaucratic environment. Things move so slow. All you do as an engineer is push paper and manage contracts. If you want a true space related experience join private companies like MDA. If you are a student, don't waste a work term in this place, the experience you will get is minimal and the possibility to get hired after is slim. they do NOT support employee development. you are hired to do one simple task, that is going to numb your brain out, for the rest of your career. The org. is so small. Barely any progress or room to grow. People here wait for someone to retire or die so one spot would open up. If you don't have (strong) french, well, you have no hope for your career progress. Managers/supervisors are bullies, and no one can stop them. They won't go anywhere else due to the lack of opportunities, neither can you, unless you quit. You could be bullied to work overtime, will be over loaded with meaningless work and you can never ask for overtime, even though your contract dictates that. If you get an interview, ask the board, how long they have been at the same position, or same level. You will then realize how stagnating your career will be. This place has a little town feel. everyone knows everyone else. That is good, but, the gossip about everyone, just like in a little town. Anything you do is under a microscope. If you are visible minorities, Quebec is not the best province to be in, and CSA resembles the province. Good luck. They have been on a visible minority hiring spree in the past few years, because for years the CSA has been a white man's org, finally the gov caught up and forced them to hire diversely

Pros

Overall security of a government job. Some cool projects to work on, but roles can be limited for demonstration of abilities.

Cons

Frustrating in terms of lack of vision and suffers from undue bureaucracy. Management has improved project control greatly but lacks insight for development of technical staff and technology development overall.

Pros

Nice building Free Parking Good vacation and pension benefits.

Cons

Management is clueless about the technical savvy ness that space requires. Focused more on perpetual reorganizations and wordsmithing about program outcomes, etc, etc. Little innovation. Young engineers lack experience in the technical field. Loss of credibility as an organization. Prefers to go for easy projects than difficult ones. Little innovation because of lack of technical exposure.
