Pros

The People: They work together to selflessly help others deal with the painful effects of grief and bereavement. Good people doing extremely difficult/emotional work The Work: The satisfaction from knowing you are helping others; those who have been effected by Cancer whether themselves, their families and/or their loved ones. Bereavement for those who have suffered loss from Cancer.

Cons

Management: They do not see the value of their employees or the work that they do, just seen as conduits and cogs to drive funding. Financial resources "invested" towards renovations and meaningless needs as opposed to those people that are the very embodiment of the Organization. No Raises in 2 years (not even minimal cost of living), layoffs to counteract the excessive sum spent on renovations. Lack of internal and external vision. Social Workers turned into call center expected to deal with painful (sometimes suicidal conversations) for hours at a time with no break and no relief, reprimanded if they do not get back on the phone after 120 seconds. Extremely short-staffed. Poor compensation Zero Growth potential

Pros

The pay was pretty decent. Didn't have any issues with getting my paycheck. The Benefits and Vacation packages are pretty good. No complaints in that department. They also pay some of your school bill if your attending classes (must be approved).

Cons

The leadership sucks which is why there is such a high turn over rate! The supervisors are often incompetent and snooty. Don't let the fancy titles fool you; your basically doing data entry and answering phones all day. Doesn't take a degree for that but they prefer it. Also there is a lot of nepotism in this place so you really need to know someone in order to get a job here.

Pros

COVID Protocols Caring CEO Passionate social workers

Cons

Little opportunity for growth, despite being told to the contrary. Does NOT value DEI within staff—never acknowledges it. Many managers and leaders cannot keep staff due to their inconsiderate and toxic management styles. Rules within departments change daily. The top, executive leadership is generous and kind. You will be overworked, underpaid, and in some departments, you will be severely under valued and under appreciated.
