Pros

I had an incredibly disappointing experience working for the Cancer Support Community. Instead of helping patients day to day, I mostly fielded requests from higher-ups who would freak out anytime the CEO would ask them for something. This created a very toxic working environment where these individuals would take out anger, stress and frustration at lower level employees who often had nothing to do with the projects or tasks that had been assigned - to the point that almost everyone in my department quit within a span of a year or so.

Cons

Unfortunately, I don't think my particular experience was uncommon; I would hear from many of my colleagues that Senior Leadership would set unrealistic expectations for different departments on items like grant deliverables, fundraising and other initiatives.

Pros

There are absolutely zero pros to working here.

Cons

The CEO is a narcissist who is regarded by the cancer community as a completely intolerant person to work with. She only hires people who she can manipulate. Her senior leadership are people who are ineffective or learning disabled. She will drive this organization to the ground. I warn you to never take a job here. She has destroyed a good cause and manipulated An entire board to function under her. At one point they had 14 out of 30 positions open and the Staff only lasted a year. I can only pray her board reads this and takes action.

Pros

CSC is wonderful at providing support and innovative programs for people living with cancer, their families and friends.

Cons

Top management is extremely controlling, even vindictive, and provides few routes for advancement. More than 50% of compensation goes to 6 or 7 senior staff out of a staff of 20 or more. CEO needs to move on to open up structure to others.
