Nice fringe benefits; bi-weekly massages, lunches, and parties.
Cons
Very High turn over in all departments, including management, so policy changes weekly. Nurses burdened with large territories since field staff last only 3-6 months.
This job was my stepping stone into health care. The work was easy and the hours were great. You can always find hours that you want and no two days are alike. I visited many clients and they all had different levels of need, but I enjoyed working with them all and I learned SO MUCH at this job. I met a lot of amazing people too. There were no benefits, but there were definite perks.
Cons
Families that I worked with were frustrated with management's behavior when problems came up, and many clients I worked with left the company in the short time (<1 yr) that I was there. I told my supervisor to call me if someone ever called in for a shift and I would take it, but then people would call in last minute and my supervisor would just tell the families that no one was available without even calling me to ask. Also, no benefits with this job at all. Company doesn't reimburse for travel even if you take a shift an hour away unless you're running an errand for a client during your shift.
The Home Health side is well run, it's a family owned business, and they like to have fun with parties and other events. The pay by the point system rewards efficiency.
Cons
The hospice side is micro managed, employees can be disrespected in front of their peers, and the experience, judgment, and compassion of employees isn't consistently rewarded or appreciated. The point system on this side doesn't work; hospice takes a lot of time, and an hourly wage would serve both the clients and the employees. High turnover.
