Pros

Could not ask for a better support staff. Really care about helping you succeed in any way they can. The older agents there want to help you. They want to see you succeed. The general agent is a no nonsense person that people listen to when he speaks. You need that for college graduates sometimes. MassMutual has a wonderful program for people wanting to get into this business.

Cons

Very closed minded. What they do not tell you is you need to expect to pay ~$300 a month with agency fees, parking fees, desk fee, technology fee, etc. Managers do not know know what they are doing at all. One really tries hard to be a good manager but the other has too much of an ego to see his own mistakes to learn from them. Their structure on how to help new people changes every month so no one ever learns anything. They preach to use fear to get someone to do business, and while getting a client to fix a genuine problem is important, making them afraid is not the answer. They also pressure you to take the Series 6 over the Series 7. The Series 6 is easier and takes less time to study for, so the managers can get paid faster. A lot of people also feel that anyone who is related to the McCray's (blood or friends) are getting free passes without earning anything.

Pros

I met some really cool people while I was here. If I ever needed help, there were plenty of people willing to guide me to the correct answer. If you work there for more than 4 years, you will definitely see the financial payoff. They also throw pretty fun parties.

Cons

The management has a "drink the kool aid" approach with their employees. After your first interview, you will have very little idea what exactly will be required of you in the position. Then, they will attempt to tell you that you are a financial adviser for these clients that you are bringing in. At the end of the advisement process, you will come to learn that this job is about one thing and one thing only....SELLING LIFE INSURANCE. They will mold the selling of life insurance into many different things until you agree that selling life insurance to these people is the most beneficial thing that will ever happen in their lives. To make the situation worse, the first thing they want you to do when you start the job is to create a list of 10 close family members and successful friends and cold call them to come and have a meeting with you. This is when you are completely unqualified to manage someone's money. It creates awkward situations between you and family members/friends. To top all of these things off, this job is strictly commission. When I say strictly commission, I mean it took me 4 months to make a paycheck and I worked my butt off (60 hrs a week) for 4 months and did everything that was asked of me. You have to pay to park at the office. $70 a month. You even have to pay to sit at your desk. What does that mean? You have to pay a monthly amount to work in the office and that amount is subtracted from each check that you receive. What if you aren't earning a paycheck? The amount accrues and is subtracted from your paycheck when you finally receive it. Imagine finally getting a paycheck after 4 months and seeing $450 subtracted for "being at work".

Pros

Capstone is undoubtedly the best firm if you want to take on the career path and become a financial advisor. I've been working here for about 2 years and started immediately after graduating Auburn. -There is a great atmosphere in the office -Management provides you with the training and guidance you need to hit the ground running when you start -From the advisors to the general agent, there is a ton of experiences and resources around the office if you ever have questions or need help on a case -The approach and process for the clients is seamless and extremely efficient -The commission structure pays more than all other wealth management firms -Has the best corporate solutions team to work with businesses/business owners -The best benefits and matching contributions with regards to 401k, pension, and insurances -Great office and professional environment -True financial planning that takes a holistic approach when making recommendations to clients -The ability to grow your own practice and mold your own clientele -Massive bonuses and great recognition system -If you follow trust the system and process you will -The office has exploded under the new general agent stressing activity, growth, and a team atmosphere

Cons

There a few if any cons with Capstone - all of which are a common denominator of all firms in the industry and have more to do with the career itself than Capstone. -You build your own book - there is no one here that will hand you clients or pass down a book. You are responsible for eating what you kill and building your own practice. However, the longer you are in the business, you have a better chance of having older and younger advisors look to you for help with their cases or clients that need servicing. If you don't have the discipline and ambition to do what it takes to build your own business - this industry is NOT for you. -The first year is a grind - you are essentially starting your own business and in your first year you have no renewal income. When I started I was pulling long days because I would build my book and meet with prospects during the day and do all my securities licensing studying at night. Again not really a con of Capstone but just the career itself. -Sometimes the training room is too cold
