Pros

Nice people working in the restaurant team.

Cons

Toxic positivity, culture as something to consume and profit off of and authoritarian Head Office management. Little to no diversity. Life/work balance is not achievable when having boundaries is seen as selfish and makes management become passive aggressive. Their 4 values are a sales gimmick with no substance and no steps are ever taken towards practice. All employees live in fear of one person, dreading if they will be happy or upset and if they are going to face the abuse that follows. Not all employees deserve to progress, but what do you do when it's your founder?

Pros

£15+/hr with TRONC Generous vouchers (probation pass, birthday, 1 year anniversary) Free meal on shift of 6hrs+ Unlimited free coffee on shift Promotions offered internally before external hiring

Cons

Very inconsistent hours, if you're looking for 40 hours regularly look elsewhere Business is very dependant on good weather, events at Aviva studios nearby, or the time of year (eg. Summer/Christmas) Higher management and head office don't seem to value their staff, often cutting hours to rake in personal bonuses for doing so

Avoid at all costs

Pros

Team were friendly and almost felt like family. Bi weekly pay. No uniform.

Cons

The management team at this restaurant was extremely disorganised and often made poor operational decisions. In the mornings, they would regularly assign just one or two waiters to cover half of the restaurant each not because of a lack of staff, but to save money on labour costs. This made service chaotic and stressful, and it was impossible to maintain proper standards for customers. On more than one occasion, I was left outside alone with nearly a full terrace to manage, simply because they wanted to cut hours. There was no consideration for the staff’s workload or for customer experience. And barely any support from my managers in these situations just the occasional, “are you okay” and then run back inside with two plates. The managers were also quick to shut down any feedback or constructive criticism. Anyone who questioned their way of running things was treated as a problem rather than someone trying to help. Their lack of organisation and defensive attitude created a really unpleasant and unprofessional working environment. Overall, the place is poorly managed and should be avoided both for anyone considering working there and for customers expecting good service.
