Pros

Great Mission and culture. Something I could really get behind if supported. Member focused. Great co-workers but everyone is looking elsewhere.

Cons

Not even a faux carrot waved for advancement. Major career dead end. They love to bring people on but do not invest or care about keeping them. If you want to move up, you have to take your talent and experience gained from there elsewhere. Also make sure you look at their current and past years profit margins. Losing money fast and hurting from federal political climate.

Pros

Competitive salaries. Good work life balance. Pretty good benefits. There are some very nice people that work there.

Cons

Top performers are told they are valued, but it's never shown. Too many leadership positions that aren't needed. Way too top heavy. Management is surprisingly clueless given the amount of them. The company also lacks structure and formal processes, which is also surprising for its size. There is a sense of flailing by management, which is probably due to so many leaders and a lack of synergy between them, or that the company got too large too quickly. Too much drama and politics exist in the organization. Many people don't get along and will back stab each other. This is seen both within the organization and between the CCO's. I have never seen anything like it in a workplace. Leadership will usually hire their friends, though will use a facade of "everyone is encouraged to apply" Many employees feel like they're not given the proper tools to succeed.

Pros

Universal transit pass provided to all employees. Very flexible work arrangements. Large enough to get lost in the mix. Decent overall compensation package (aka low salaries but other benefits are intended to make up for that). Great location in downtown Portland.

Cons

Avenues for growth in this company are severely limited. Cost of living adjustments are not keeping pace with actual changes in cost of living here in Portland. Methods for employee engagement are poorly thought out and end up feeling coerced and disingenuous. HR is often nonresponsive or slow to respond to employee requests. In the past, job descriptions were made up by employees who previously occupied positions and have been grandfathered into the general repository of JDs; what you have now is a mix of nonsense with clearly delineated job functions. Peoples titles, salaries, and supposed functions do not reflect the work they are actually doing. It's a complete mess and getting worse. Planning to jump ship as soon as I can.
