Underpaid and undervalued. I feel the company has lost its way. It’s haemorrhaging good and loyal employees due to neglect and poor management from those above. More interested in paper pushing exercises than actually letting their managers run their stores and wasting money on pointless ventures. They’ve hiked their prices up constantly, it’s embarrassing to try sell a carpet that was once £19.99 for almost double. Training is appalling with no real guidance on how to work a dated and complicated computer system. On a personal level, I felt disappointed by the company when I gave my notice. Not only did they not try to keep on board, I was treated like a traitor and was not given clear guidance on what I was entitled to during Garden leave (something I’ve never experienced) I gave numerous phone calls to their HR and Payroll team and got no answers... they messed up my last pay salaries which resulted in stress and anger that I couldn’t pay my personal bills in time. Not once did anyone from head office contact me during this period, I was completely left in the dark. Was a shockingly bad experience and just went to show that I was of no real value to them, even though I would take on extra roles (with no extra pay) to lessen the regional managers work load. Quite a sad out come as I felt in the beginning of my time with Carpetright that I was going to have quite a good career with them. I’m now with one of their competitors and feel very much appreciated and paid far better for the job I’m doing.. 100% happier now.
