Pros

If you love big complicated architectural projects this is the place for you. Amazing projects with great clients. These kinds of projects attract very smart and talented coworkers and I would rate the projects and my team mates at five stars. The project work is amazing and fun and if that is enough for you then this is the place for you.

Cons

This is a difficult place to work if you don't believe that architecture with a capital A is more important than anything else (a la the Fountain Head). There is no work/life balance as culturally it is not okay to say "no" when you are asked to work more. The office is way behind in terms of embracing technology with no centralized database and less than half of the staff working in 3D. There is no clear transition plan as the owners prepare to retire. There is very little actual management of people so projects and systems are very inefficient. Designers are highly valued and everyone else is not.

Pros

Almost every project is amazingly designed. You will be working on award-winning projects and you will be given HUGE amounts of responsibility. Even junior staff has the opportunity to make significant contributions to the design of large-scale projects. This is a DESIGN oriented firm that wins many awards.

Cons

It doesn't matter if you're an Intern or Senior Project Manager... They will work you into emotional and physical stress. They tend to pay below national averages, they don't offer 401K matching, hard to get vacation time off, and every project is understaffed. Yearly bonuses are difficult to attain, not guaranteed, and often as low as $250.

Pros

Very open to new ideas and independence. Willing to mentor and teach the profession. A lot of great minds and leaders to learn from.

Cons

Very demanding workplace with not a lot of room for a work/life balance. Will work a majority of weekends.
