Great start, terrible transition

Pros

Great start/1st corporate job. Benefits are nice, being remote is nice as well. Decent PTO compared to other companies.

Cons

Workload, failure to hire help regardless of how stressful the workload is (Several employees do 3+ peoples amount of work), failure to have recognition for managing this unrealistic expectation. At the end of the day it's just a corporate job that doesn't care about you. They are laying off teams of people with 0 warning (113 positions in the last round of layoffs) and the possibility of having to go back into the office is not what we signed up for. Very hard to move up in the company

Pros

you might meet some cool people

Cons

Lay offs happen randomly without warning, over 200 people have been cut this year alone. They fire their best people and replace them without outside hires with zero domain knowledge. The company has been hemorrhaging talent for a while and just this past year it seems to be getting really bad. If you hate your work life balance and your own sanity, take a senior engineering position here! Especially in websites inventory: this dept has no policies or practices (every policy is superseded by an older confluence doc from someone no longer at the company), but they’ll penalize you like they do. Management doesn’t do 1:1s so they literally don’t care if you’re enjoying or hating your job (you’ll hate it). I worked for cars a while back (dealer inspire) and it was nothing like it is today. Today’s cars is a horrible place to work. In the process of suing them, which you’ll have plenty of opportunities to do with how disorganized everything is.

Pros

Fully remote work environment Monthly (yet small) technology stipend

Cons

Not a culture of coaching employees; it is sink or swim Below average pay Lack of interest in having employees succeed Leadership runs organization through fear, which trickles down to every level Incredibly long hiring process (3 months) with full project required Very hierarchical workplace; you'll be dictated to, but won't understand the overall strategy
