Good if you NEED a job

Pros

Paychecks usually clear. Co Workers are good and residents are great, make the job rewarding.

Cons

Where to begin... Financial issues. debit cards often "run out of funds" which is so frustrating at the gas station fueling up the bus or purchasing supplies for residents. No possibility for advancement - This company is growing yet employees are not notified of opportunities up the ladder, new positions are created and filled by managements/owners family and friends. Owners are trying to "re-invent the wheel" creating a company language etc - employees are not allowed to call each other co-workers they are "everfriends", competitors are "co-petitors" its laughable and silly. Owners are adamant that employees understand that this company is "REVENUE DRIVEN" this is about making money! (for the owners) employees complain of .06 cent raises etc. You are required to wear a uniform, you are issued 1 shirt per year and are required to purchase the rest. When senior managment visits they wont dare stay in their own buldings?? Its more about doing it "their way" than getting the job done, with constant implied threats of job loss. 401k - company match is 0.

Avoid if you can

Pros

I believe in their vision, and really believe they want to do the right thing. Owners are nice enough people.

Cons

They have no money. Every month we were required to create a list of bills that they didn't have to pay immediately or they would make the list for us. I can't tell you how many times this resulted in shut off notices, our trash not being picked up, or important deliveries (hello, toilet paper!) not being delivered. Owners are a little big for their britches. They spend so much time and money to act like big shots, that they don't actually invest that money into the buildings or employees. They are so focused on GROW, GROW, GROW that they don't take the time or resources and put them into their current buildings. Managers are bizarrely nepotistic. How many of their home office (don't you DARE say corporate!) employees are family members or members of their country club? Oh yes, country club (see point 2). They refuse to fire people. Regardless of how an employee acts, you've essentially guaranteed yourself a job here as long as you are at the home office or chummy with someone there. There is an older accounting woman who is one of the rudest people I've ever met, and yet she stays because she's drinking buddies with one of the owners.

Pros

I have worked with some really nice people at this facility (unfortunately a lot of them have moved on to other opportunities this year).

Cons

The dental and vision coverage are good but the medical coverage is not. They do not match your 401k so you're better off setting up your own. The management is kind of strange and secretive. I think they try to keep things need-to-know in order to protect the privacy of residents/employees, but it just makes it so no one is ever well informed about what's going on. The managers don't communicate things effectively to the staff or to each other, there is often confusion with the schedule, and turnover is pretty high, at least on the morning shift and in other departments such as housekeeping and maintenance
