Large local online media site to gain experience in media and tech.

Management subscribes to "old school" management philosophy where it is top down, doesn't want constructive suggestions from staff or empower staff to go beyond their assigned tasks. The attitude if you don't like it, leave. It thwrefore isn't a surprise that under such a style that the news reporting is mediocre and the site design and features haven't been updated in years as everyone is afraid to say that the "emperor has no clothes".
