Pros

- Cutting edge biotechnology... what they are doing is great! - Nice nice employees

Cons

- CEO is a menace to work for. He has NO people skills, nor did he care about his employees. He had 5 EAs in 3 years. Why is that? He took home a hefty salary to walk around with a chip on his shoulder. - Not a very collaborative environment. Cubicles and quiet. I was there for 9 months and cannot remember ONE of my colleague's names. - POLITICS.

Pros

Using proteases as therapeutics is a great idea, some good people still work there.

Cons

No partnerships in several years, low on funds, two recent layoffs, down to ~16 people. Steady exodus of good talent - frustrated with poor management and no publications or career advancement.

Pros

HR and the effort they put in toward company employees. Even in the pandemic, we received care packages and swag. The organization has grown rapidly bringing in more industry experts with good background and experience.

Cons

Everything else at this company 1. CEO – He appears to be direct, no holding back kind of guy. There is a strong push on employees being local and on-site. He also seems a bit removed from the company and employees. 2. Culture – The culture is about a select few at the top making the decisions and the rest hoping this information trickles down. Decision making is slow or ineffective in addition to constant direction changes based on what appears to be someone’s whims. This results in the individual contributors feeling paralyzed and unsure and this company appearing disorganized to the external vendors. The organization also has issues with delegation/outsourcing. A few senior players have no issues with being aggressive and intimidating to get their way. 3. Sr Management team – As is the case everywhere, this company has good players and not so good players. The Sr Management team has some serious “bulldozers” who have no problem seeking limelight, jumping into other depts workstreams and just coming down to work at individual contributor levels. 4. Efficiency – There is none, spinning our wheels constantly. Decision making is between the extremes of “4 Sr. folks in a room” and “one big family decision” Overall, the good people are overshadowed by the not so good people. If you want to spread your wings, contribute and want a fast paced environment, this is not the place for you. Look elsewhere. What you will find here is constant revisiting of decisions, constant justification of your actions, and a non-collaborative, siloed environment. Good luck getting anything done here.
