Pros

The pay is fair out of the gate, but when you factor in the required 24/7 availability (even on "vacation"...!), poor working conditions and physical and mental abuse, it's simply not worth it.

Cons

Several of the senior executives are borderline sociopaths. The offices are dingy and dated and the toilets don't often work. The staff are all required by necessity and lack of existing qualified personnel, to take on duties for which they have neither the skills, training or expertise to execute. The end result is that the entire organization is dragged down several levels as those at higher levels must assume the roles of subordinates. This is the only company I've ever worked for where additional effort above and beyond is penalized, not rewarded...or at least acknowledged. Executive level decisions are capricious, horribly uninformed and reactionary... Usually to the overall detriment to the project. Instead of bringing a sense of calm, stability, reassurance and support, the executives unnessicarily increase stress on the staff to the point where morale is non-existant. This results in geometrically reduced productivity, resentment by the staff and a poor attitude by all. This company uses D-list "lowest bidder" subcontractors who actually CONTROL the CM, delay the project and completely undermine the firm's credibility with the client and the other subcontractors. Preposterous.

We are pleased to announce that Cauldwell Wingate recently merged with Bravo Builders and is not the same Cauldwell Wingate as when these reviews were posted. There is a new leadership in place and a great culture led by Robert Palumbo. The new leadership team has taken a strong brand name and built an even stronger organization the “new” Cauldwell. It is a great place to work, with new offices, a fresh corporate culture and new professional “perks” such as outdoor lounge space, snacks in the workplace, team building events, celebrations and opportunities for professional advancement.

Pros

Varied and interesting work, some commercial, health care and institutional. Not engaged in shady business practices.

Cons

The President (and upper management). Everything runs on her whim. Senior executives almost afraid to go to the bathroom without her permission. She actually told me that the COO "didn't have the authority" to make a REALLY minor decision. Micro-manages employees to death, rules change almost hourly and many hours and days are wasted on wild goose chases initiated by the President, under extreme pressure to deliver impossible results. Expect 60 hour work weeks and dirty looks if you leave the office before 6:30 PM. If this was my first job out of college, I would have quit the industry and went back to grad school.
