Pros

You can be a part of innovative research in the field of infectious disease. Seminars and journal club meetings were available at frequent intervals which I enjoyed very much.

Cons

The organization is quite large with many labs using shared equipment so scheduling could be difficult at times.

Pros

Very academic adjacent, essentially exists as an extension of UW. Great for PhD students/candidates and postdoc.

Cons

Very academic adjacent. If you don’t want to pursue further academia you’ll be making very little compared to your industry counterparts, will have big funding concerns and grant stress, and you’ll have to put up with a lot of judgement regarding your choice to not further pursue academia.
