Student First Philosophy, Beautiful campus. Great community of staff and faculty. Good Benefits - Health, Dental, Flex Spending, 401K. Beautiful University in rural America. Brick and Mortar Gorgeous! Great employee benefits. Mostly student first mentality, some students feel less valued in the current political atmosphere. Adequate Holiday/Vacation and time off. Colleagues are wonderful, fellow faculty and staff are kind and hardworking, dedicated to student success. Access to Faculty Development Funds. Great service opportunities in the community.
Cons
Disconnect between Senior Leadership and staff/faculty: autocratic, poor communication, atmosphere of favoritism. No childcare or daycare for faculty/staff/students. Not competitive with pay or salary when compared to other schools in the geographic area, not competitive with professional salaries, not competitive with regional or national salaries for areas of expertise. Behind the times! Adjunct pay is low, not competitive on the CLAS side. Top 10 reported salaries extremely exceed the rank and file employees, front line faculty creating an atmosphere that promotes devaluation and communicates that top leadership is overpaid and disconnected. Athletes are priority at this university, academics seem to take a back seat in terms of priorities. Low entry exam scores set students up for failure. Poor promotion of programs, limited funding or resources. Limited or Lacking bonus programs. Heavily Political.
