Culture starts at the top

Pros

Customers. For me the customers were the number one pro.

Cons

Buck passing and blame culture is rife throughout the company.. management is extremely ego driven. Resulting in problems persisting and never being solved. This culture clearly starts at the top and filters it’s way down to every level. The negative effects and pressure this puts on employees is massive.

Pros

Got warned about the culture prior to starting but I knew a few good people here so decided to give it a go....biggest mistake I made. Friendly enough and professional Company on first aquatinence but just be warned this is a superficial façade. The few good people remaining in the branch are great at what they do and their ethic is beyond reproach.....but sadly I know they are also looking elsewhere. If you are a noter and are a professional dodger in work and know how to talk the talk then you will love this place. If you however truly want to enjoy you work and make a difference then don't do this to yourself.

Cons

The phrase you are just a number does not apply here.....I don't think they even have that much respect for the staff. They lie and manipulate those who actually have a work ethic and are truly trying to do the right thing, but seem to reward those who spend the bulk of their efforts justifying why they have achieved nothing at the end of the day. Verbal abuse is amazing here and I witnessed it for 3.5 years around me. As soon as the first belt of this was aimed at me is when I throw it in. I finish up in a matter of days. This place will not self destruct purely because this area has high unemployment and there is a steady flow of new people who are desperate for work. We now have a record '0' customer satisfaction rating, and work in progress is the lowest it has been in 3 years in the busiest time of our season. 23 people have come and gone in my time here, 8 in the last 3 months, 3 this month alone including myself. Management seems to solely look for ways to make themselves look good and the customer is merely an inconvenience in their day. As long as the figures can be made to look flattering that's all that matters.

Pros

The only good thing about working for Cervus was there people that I met when working across branches, it gave me an opportunity to see how operations were run around the state, and to identify common issues.

Cons

The biggest issue I found with Cervus was the higher management had big goals and dreams, but no idea how to formulate a strategy to achieve these goals. I had the GM for our operation say to me: "I don't even know what your job is, but you get good results, keep doing it" It's your job to know! The communication issues could be drawn back to over communication, they need to give branches a little more time to respond to issues, rather than jump down their throats before the department head knows there is an issue. Too many frivolous emails, and sloppy protocol (cc people you shouldn't). Money was wasted left, right and centre with pointless last minute road trips where a phone call could suffice. A complete lack of direction, and lack of confidence in upper management to stand up to OEM's. They just took the beating and attacked the subordinates.
