Like being in an abusive relationship

Pros

The residents who live there are amazing, if you choose to work here the relationships you will forge with them will impact you for life.

Cons

The management in the department I worked in (culinary) was incredibly abusive. Working with them is stressful due to their passive aggression, manipulation, and the way they play favorites and pit servers against each other. After you’ve worked there for a while and gotten a few raises, they cut your hours and give them to new people who make less per hour. The management can and will treat you like a utility and NOT like a human.

Managers Do Not Possess Manager Skills Or Degrees

Pros

Zero because they don’t know how to manage personnel.

Cons

Managers do not have any skills in being good managers. They apparently don’t need to be good at managing people because they just continue to constantly manage extremely high turnover. Constantly hiring more and more people over and over in a vicious cycle. They don’t even know when they really do have fantastic employees how to even treat them properly and humanely so they can willingly stay and grow within the company. Their wages are too low compared to other places. They are too busy hiring more replacements instead of focusing on their current pool of employees. Then they hire crappy, low life people off the street and wonder why they do not have good work ethics. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Pros

I met some very nice employees and residents during my short time there. The buildings are very nice.

Cons

My training was rushed and very poor because management let another employee go. I was not informed of this situation. The employee was still employed when I started. She quizzed me about the hours that I was to work on several occasions. I pointed her to our manager, as I did not know anything. I was working when that employee had a meeting with management and was led to the door. That was my first shift on my own. I had only trained once at that desk and I had no idea of where even the simplest of items were, such as an extension list. I had to go through every drawer in the desk. I did not have the basic items to help me do my job in an efficient manner, such as the menus that I was to update for the following day and a basic map of where residents lived when delivering packages. There is another desk with another employee that worked at the same time as me. I called/emailed and asked her where I could find the items. She tried to help me, but I was too new to know exactly the direction that she was attempting to point me. Also, she was sharp with me, as she was trying to do her own job. This resulted in me staying late for my first two nights. I received a text from my manager the following day, that if I stayed late again, that I would written up. I quit my job last evening due to rushed poor training and the threat of being written up while trying to learn my job. I took a large pay-cut to come to work for your company because I thought that it seemed like a great company. It was not what I expected.
