Toxic CEO

Pros

* They paid competitively * Dev team was great (the attrition was high, though).

Cons

CEO creates a toxic atmosphere in the company and employees have no way to voice their concerns: * The avg lifespan of a manager in a company is less than 1 year. Over the last year 80% of all managers were fired personally by CEO based on the same premise that "they are not good at getting feedback". Usually people are fired spontaneously with a strong pressure to leave the company immediately. The fired people are given 1 (or rarely 2) exit salaries on a verbal agreement that they won't talk about their negative experiences at Chatfuel. * So, most of the management positions are now occupied by a single person (CEO). He's a CEO, CMO, CTO, CPO, product manager and who knows what else :) He's not able to delegate properly or share responsibilities. * The product vision changes drastically every three months or so. So the teams are overworked to keep pace with these radical product changes.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We hear you, and we constatly try to make things better. We get the concern about high turnover and are actively working on improving how we talk and listen to each other. Our new CEO is has brought a clear strategy and the workload is now spread more effectively. The product direction have become more consistent, but still it's true that we have to stay flexible to adapt to rapid changes. Thank you again for voicing your concern, it helps us grow.

Pros

Flexibility, supportive culture, work-life balance

Cons

Layoffs have occurred due to the lack of strategic understanding among the general managers. Rather than investing time in studying strategy and developing a clear, stable business perspective, they find it easier to shuffle teams.
