From my understanding, non UK staff did not have the same experience as me, however, I was the third employee to leave in 6 months, which was 50% of the UK team.
- 0 female employees now that the final 2 have left including myself.
- We had to remind senior management to run payroll most months, on one occasion, pay was 3 days late.
- The office is not suitable for collaborative work, it is a schmoozy networking space where it is very hard to get a proper desk.
- Objectives are constantly changed and poorly communicated to the team.
- COO who oversees the UK team has other work commitments so disappears for long periods of time and fails to support the team effectively during contracted working hours.
- Very bad bullying culture, driven by the COO, this included confidential staff details such as salary and performance being shared, threats to sack people, constant belittling of staff, bad mouthing clients, probing personal questions etc. This became so severe whilst on my notice period, I tried to raise a 12 point grievance, however I was talked out of it with a promise from the CEO that he would not contact me during my final month of employment.
- Very slow growth due to said 'COO''s inability to delegate, but also inability to do work himself. The users that were acquired through lazy tactics were very low quality and caused customer service issues and poor results for paying clients. When I tried to support this function, I was told that I "Don't understand growth hacking", despite 5 years of proven growth marketing experience (12 years in digital).
- Pay review took more than 8 weeks, where my personal circumstances such as my mortgage rate and dual household income where scrutinised.
Honestly I could go on but I'm just so happy to have nothing to do with Cheddar any more.
